The Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) and the Weinberg Food Bank are pleased to announce the Annual Thanksgiving Project. This program is for families in need, including Federal Employees, residing in Luzerne or Wyoming counties, to register to receive a Thanksgiving dinner. To participate, please complete registration on the CEO website (Register -  Commission on Economic Opportunity) by 5:00 p.m. on October 24, 2025.

If you are interested in giving back to the community, you may schedule a volunteer shift online (Register -  Commission on Economic Opportunity) or call 570-826-0510 to sign up.

For families in Lackawanna County, assistance is available through the following organizations:

• United Neighborhood Centers: Feed-a-Friend program for families with children United Neighborhood Centers 

• Catholic Social Services in Carbondale:  Catholic Social Services in Carbondale

• Friends of the Poor: Sit-down dinner for elderly individuals or Family-to-Family food giveaway Friends of the Poor
